Take one 5 year old who desperately wants to make his own sandwich.
add 2 slices of bread
some butter
smoked salmon
4 strawberries
pieces of ham
2 chocolate balls
That makes one ecstatic schoolboy, who can't wait to eat his smiley face creation, which includes starters, main course and dessert in one fell swoop.

Ah yes. I have a similarly adventurous 5-year old chef. He loved his dairylea cheese spread and nutella sandwich, although I can't see it ebcoming Subway's next top seller. But his Green and Black's chocolate spread and blck cherry jam sandwich was inspired, and is now regularly eaten in our house where it is known as "Black Forest Butty".
oooh ...thanks Melanie...the Black Forest Butty is now on the top of my list to try and recreate.
You're not on the Welsh border by any chance are you? I only tend to hear the word "butty" when I'm back in Wales.
Thank you so much for showing me someone else is living my life!!!! I have spent hours making funny face sandwiches with runny honey or squeezy cheese, trying not to let my OCD tendancies overcome my yummy mummy alter-ego and scream "watch the mess, Ive just cleaned those worktops!" Keep up the good work, Stelly xx
Hi Stelly - thanks for passing by. I know what you mean...sometimes I have to mentally tie my hands together and zip my mouth. It's the only thing I find works for me. ;-)
