Postcard from...Cambridge (?)

We ventured off into Cambridgeshire this week to visit the historic university town of Cambridge. You were probably expecting a postcard of the beautiful Kings College and other collegiate buildings or people punting on the river Cam.

Sorry, but I couldn't resist taking a photo of this fake Italianate scene, (with a fake facade and fake plants) enclosed in the food-court of the Grafton Centre, Cambridge's own cathedral to consumerism.

Somehow, I don't quite get this idea...

...but wish you were here to share it, all the same. 21st C Mummy xxx

Hey! Having just spent an idyllic 2 weeks in the "real" Italy, we can share your misgivings about this facade...! Dreadful! Even warm sunshine couldn't transform it into the reality of Italian splendour!

Babas, well said. The only "sunshine" that this building gets is from the lights on the ceiling just outside. And I bet they are not even daylight bulbs ;-)
